شبكة الفتق ثلاثية الأبعاد (3D Anatomical Mesh) للفتق الإربي | 3D Anatomical Mesh for Inguinal Hernia Repair
From the Operating Room
| The 3D anatomical mesh is pre-shaped to the natural anatomy of the groin and is placed ready-formed during laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair. Filmed in the operating room, Dr. Mohamed H. Zidan explains how it differs from regular flat mesh: it costs a little more, but it needs no tackers for fixation, so there is less pain, and it is heavier, so it is much less likely to migrate. He adds that it lowers the recurrence rate, is easier to place and shortens the operation.

Peace be upon you. Today we have a laparoscopic hernia case, and we'll be using a 3D mesh. What does 3D mesh mean? It's a three-dimensional mesh that takes the shape of the natural contour of the inguinal region, the natural anatomy of the groin, so we place it ready-shaped. How does it differ from regular meshes? Yes, it's a little more expensive, but it reduces pain because we don't need to use staples to fix it. Second, it's heavier than other meshes, so the chance of it migrating is much lower, and it is fixed with sutures instead of staples. As a result, there is less pain, a lower recurrence rate, easier placement and a shorter operating time.
