بيوضح إن الفتق قطع تشريحي في العضلة ما بتعالجهوش الأدوية، وإن التأجيل ممكن يحوّل الحالة لطوارئ زي اختناق الأمعاء، وإن الشبكات الحديثة متصممة تندمج مع الأنسجة وتقلل رجوع الفتق، وإن المنظار بيدّي رؤية أدق وتعافي أسرع وألم أقل.‏ | Dr. Mohamed H. Zidan corrects four common misconceptions about hernias and hernia surgery: that a hernia can heal with medication or a belt, that a small hernia can safely be left, that hernia mesh causes problems, and that open surgery is safer than laparoscopy. He explains that a hernia is an anatomical defect in the muscle that medication cannot fix, that delaying repair can turn it into an emergency such as bowel strangulation, that modern meshes are designed to integrate with the tissue and reduce recurrence, and that laparoscopy gives the surgeon a clearer view and the patient a faster recovery with less pain.‎

Common surgical misconceptions. One: a hernia can heal with medication or a belt. This is wrong. A hernia is an anatomical defect in the muscle; no medication will fix it, and the only treatment is surgery. Two: a small hernia can be left without treatment. Postponing the operation can turn the case into an emergency because of complications such as bowel strangulation, so early treatment is always easier and safer. Three: hernia mesh causes problems. This is also wrong. Modern meshes are completely safe and designed to integrate with the tissue to greatly reduce the chance of the hernia coming back. Four: open surgery is safer than laparoscopy. On the contrary, laparoscopic surgery gives the surgeon a much better and more precise view, and gives the patient a faster recovery and much less pain than open surgery. That's why sound medical awareness is the first step to the success of any treatment plan.
