الاختيار حسب حالتك‏ | Ozempic and Mounjaro vs. Bariatric Surgery: Which Is Right for You?‎

Choosing by BMI‎

والقرار في الآخر بيعتمد على تقييم كل مريض.‏ | GLP-1-based injections such as Saxenda, Mounjaro and Ozempic have become one of the most popular ways to lose weight, but choosing between them and bariatric surgery should be done with a bariatric surgeon's assessment. Dr. Mohamed H. Zidan gives examples: a patient with a BMI of 40 and obesity-related conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes is usually better served by an operation such as sleeve gastrectomy or gastric bypass, while a patient with a BMI of 30 to 33 and no related conditions may be suited to GLP-1 medication. In the end, the decision depends on each patient's assessment.‎

One of the most popular modern ways to lose weight is GLP-1 injections such as Saxenda, Mounjaro and Ozempic. These medications have taken a very large share of obesity treatment, but the choice between medication and surgery should really be made by a bariatric surgeon, so that we can assess obesity-related conditions and decide on the best way to lose weight. For example, a patient with a BMI of 40 who also has obesity-related conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes is better served by an operation such as sleeve gastrectomy or gastric bypass. Another patient, with a BMI of 30 to 33 and no obesity-related conditions, is better suited to a treatment such as GLP-1 medication. That's why every patient should be assessed.
