وبيوضح إن الإصلاح بالفتح الجراحي ممكن، لكن المنظار بجروح أصغر ومضاعفات أقل في الجرح وإقامة أقصر في المستشفى.‏ | An incisional hernia develops at the site of a previous abdominal incision, even after a cesarean section, because the abdominal wall is weak where it was cut. Dr. Mohamed H. Zidan explains how this happens and how it can be repaired laparoscopically with IPOM or IPOM+, placing a large mesh inside the abdomen through the same small incisions. He notes that open repair is possible, but laparoscopic repair means smaller incisions, fewer wound complications and a shorter hospital stay.‎

In the past, all operations were done with traditional open surgery, and some still are. One problem with open surgery is that it can lead to an incisional hernia. What is an incisional hernia? It is a hernia that appears after an open operation, even after a cesarean section. It is a weakness in the abdominal wall at the site of the operation, whatever the type of operation, which lets abdominal organs push out into the hernia. This is what we call an incisional hernia. Today we can repair an incisional hernia laparoscopically with an operation called IPOM. IPOM and IPOM Plus are operations used only for incisional hernias, in which a large mesh is placed inside the abdomen through the same small incisions we use in laparoscopy. Can it be repaired with open surgery? Yes, of course, and anyone will tell you that open repair is easier, but if we use IPOM or IPOM Plus, we get better results with smaller wounds and less pain.
