وعشان كده أدوية الحموضة لوحدها مش بتعالج السبب الأساسي، وإصلاح الفتق بالمنظار بيرجّع المعدة لمكانها ويقفل الفتحة، والتشخيص التشريحي الصح هو أول خطوة في العلاج.‏ | Heartburn and acid reflux that continue despite medication can be a sign of a hiatal hernia. Dr. Mohamed H. Zidan explains that the esophagus passes through an opening in the diaphragm; when that opening widens, part of the stomach slides up into the chest and weakens the valve that keeps acid out of the esophagus. Reflux medication alone does not treat this underlying cause. Laparoscopic repair returns the stomach to its place and closes the opening, and an accurate anatomical diagnosis is the first step to the right treatment.‎

Persistent heartburn and acid reflux despite medication are often a warning sign of an anatomical problem: a hiatal hernia. Medically, the diaphragm has an opening through which the esophagus passes. When there is a hernia, part of the stomach moves upward into the chest cavity, which completely destroys the efficiency of the valve that prevents stomach acid from flowing back into the esophagus. Continued reliance on reflux medication in this situation doesn't treat the underlying problem. The definitive solution is laparoscopic hernia repair. With the laparoscope, we can return the stomach to its normal position and repair the hernia, which eliminates reflux and its complications, because an accurate anatomical diagnosis is the first step to the right treatment. That's why I always warn…
